CAST Lighting Design Gallery Guidelines and Agreements

Why submit your photos?

The CAST Lighting Design Gallery hosts the world's largest and most complete collection of high quality Landscape Lighting photos. Your presence in this gallery is a testament to your skill as a Lighting designer. You can direct your potential clients to your photos in the gallery. Your photos may also attract the attention of potential clients as they search through the images for design ideas.

Your name, company name and contact information appears in the gallery. You also have the option to add design notes where you can explain how you applied your design skill to the project at hand.

What are the criteria for selection?

Photo submissions are welcome but not all submitted photos are approved for display in the gallery. The following are the criteria for selection:

• Lighting project must include CAST fixtures.
• Photo must be of very high quality.
  • No black holes.
  • No burned out areas.
  • Image in focus.
  • No flash or supplemental lighting (for the purpose of providing light outside of what has been installed).
  • Lighting design is good (fixtures selected and aimed well).
• Designer must have a good relationship with a CAST Distributor.

Will the photos be used outside the Design Gallery?

By submitting the photos, the designer agrees to give CAST Lighting limited rights to display the images in the CAST Design Gallery and in other areas of the CAST Lighting website at the discretion of CAST Lighting. Photos will not be used by CAST in any other way and CAST will not give or sell the images to any other party without the express written permission of the designer.

CAST is not responsible for, nor liable for, the unauthorized use of photos by individuals who may copy or extract the photos from the Design Gallery. Note that photos in the Design Gallery are somewhat protected since they are embedded in a Flash movie; it is difficult but not impossible for an individual to copy or extract these images.

What other agreements apply?

• CAST reserves the right to edit or retouch images at its discretion.
• CAST reserves the right to position the images in various parts of the gallery at its discretion.
• CAST reserves the right to remove images from the gallery at its discretion.
• The designer reserves the right to request removal of images at any time. CAST will comply.
• It is the designer's responsibility to provide correct contact information and design notes along with the image(s). CAST is not responsible, nor liable, for any misspelling of contact information (though CAST will make corrections when requested to do so).
• The designer may request changes to information already present in the gallery. CAST will make these changes, and changes will be undertaken within an undetermined time.

Photo requirements.

In addition to the above criteria for selection, photo submissions should have the following specifications:

• Final image size has maximum height of 488 px; maximum width of 650 px.; at 72 ppi.
• If image does not need retouching, then it may be submitted within the above dimensions as a jpg or png file.
• If image needs to be resized or retouched, then it will ideally be submitted at a higher resolution (150 - 300 ppi) or a larger size.
• Accepted formats are jpg, tif, png, psd, eps or raw. If photos need to be retouched or resized, then tif, psd or raw are the best formats.

Images up to 3 mb may be e-mailed to Steve Parrott.

Images over 3 mb should be burned to a CD or DVD and mailed to:
