Lamps burn out prematurely

Lamps burn out before rated life has been reached.

Cause and Solution

The first thing to understand is that lamps are rated according to IES standards that specify when (under laboratory conditions) half of a lamp set burn out. Many conditions in an outdoor environment affect the performance of lamps and it is not unusual for lamps to burn out well before or after the rated life. These factors can not be controlled by the installer.
